Open position

WordPress Developer, Remote

In-depth competency in WordPress and WooCommerce, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL.

  • Experience: 5 years
  • Openings: 1
  • Type: Full time, remote
  • Location: Remote

About the role

You will build WordPress and WooCommerce sites for our clients: custom themes, custom plugins, and the integrations that sit behind them. This is a remote position, so you will need to be someone who works well without a desk to be tapped on.

What you will do

  • Build custom WordPress themes and plugins rather than assembling page builders.
  • Develop and extend WooCommerce stores, including payment, shipping and inventory integrations.
  • Write PHP that follows WordPress conventions: hooks and filters, sanitised input, escaped output.
  • Take responsibility for performance and security on the sites you build.
  • Work with clients on their own sites, which means care with anything already live.

What we are looking for

  • Around five years with WordPress, with custom code behind you rather than plugin configuration alone.
  • In-depth competency in WordPress and WooCommerce, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL.
  • An understanding of the WordPress security basics, because you will be the last line on them.
  • Self-direction. Remote work here means owning your own schedule and being reachable when it matters.
  • Clear written English, since most of your communication will be written.

How we work

Remote, with the same review and support as anyone in the office. You will be expected to raise problems early and to say when an approach is wrong, including when it is ours.
